University residences which are generally full of first year undergraduates are a great way to adjust to living away from home and making new friends. Uni halls are usually located close to campus.

The University is also a centre for scientific research and has made global innovations in cot death prevention and nanotechnology to name but just two. The other University in town, UWE Bristol, is no poor relation either, ranking at 28th in the Guardian League Table and receiving a Gold award for teaching from TEF.
Bristol itself was recently voted ‘Best Place to Live in the UK’ by the Sunday Times, who mentioned the fact that it was ideally located for both seaside and scenery, with a big city feel in a small location. They also praised the culture in the area, as well as lots of great food and drink – all big attractions for students.
Bristol is well known for being an independent city of culture, with something for you whether you are into music or museums – and it is also home to a thriving art scene as well. A little known fact about it as well is that it was the first city in the UK to be named as a ‘European Green Capital’.
