Gaining University status in 1991, Edith Cowan University is named after the first woman to be elected to Australian Parliament. It has three campuses, two based within Perth and a third a two-hour drive form the city.

The University offers a Student Village for each of the three campuses, with these containing both single and mixed living arrangements all providing a friendly living envrionment. The villages all feature National Rental Security Scheme, meaning the properties are at below market rate.

Students' Union

The Edith Cowan University Students Guild are a profit-free and independent organisation run by students in order to organise the extra-curicular activites at the University. Membership is free for all current students and the Guild provides academic support, a market for textbooks, parties and events including an Annual Ball, local business discounts, a student run magazine along with providing rooms and equipment.

The former Vice President of the Maldives Ahmed Abeeb attended Edith Cowan University, receiving a Master of Business Administration Degree in 2008.

News

In November 2022, ECU began to train the Australian Government to imrpvoe their "carbon literacy", helping the nation move towards a more sustainable future.
