University residences which are generally full of first year undergraduates are a great way to adjust to living away from home and making new friends. Uni halls are usually located close to campus.
Generally offer a higher level of amenities than University Halls, at higher rents. Will be home to a more diverse mix of students and normally located close to campus.
A house share with a group of friends is often the lowest cost option and popular as the next step after living in Halls. Typically located in student friendly areas which require some travel to University.
A flat or apartment is similar to a house share on a smaller scale and will normally have one or two bedrooms. Ideal for smaller groups or couples.

Edinburgh is the compact yet hilly capital of Scotland, located in Lothian on the shores of the Firth of Forth. It is home to not only the Scottish Government, and the Scottish Parliament but also the Supreme Courts of Scotland as well! It is packed full of historical buildings, which is part of the reason it is a UNESCO world heritage site which has been managed by Edinburgh World Heritage since 1999.
Edinburgh University is ranked 4th in the UK for research power and has the highest rating possible for its student learning experience. It is not the only choice for higher education in the city though – there is also Heriot-Watt University and Edinburgh Napier University as well. It should be no surprise to learn that Edinburgh has long been a centre of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, Scots law, literature, philosophy, the sciences and engineering.
Typical of most cities this size, Edinburgh has a thriving nightlife. There are plenty of cinemas and theatres to choose from, and hundreds of places to listen to music as well. Whether hip-hop is your thing, or jazz, blues, soul music, techno or even folk – there is something in Edinburgh to cater to everyone’s taste.

There is also the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Science Festival too. If you plan to stay at Uni over the new year, you can also partake in the annual Hogmanay - which attracts thousands of people from all over the world.
Edinburgh also has plenty to offer sports fans as well with three professional football clubs – two of which are known as ‘Hibs’ and ‘Hearts’. There is also a thriving women's football scene in the city as well. Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh is home to the Scotland National rugby union team and Edinburgh Rugby. Other sports represented in the city include cricket, ice hockey, basketball, baseball, and speedway.
