Why you don't need to panic about finding accommodation
Are you feeling under pressure about finding accommodation?
Does it feel like everyone around you has accommodation for second year set in place?
We can promise you there’s no need to panic.
There is so much pressure in first year to find a flat quickly. This is made worse by the fact that you’ve only known your friends for a couple of months, and you’re not sure whether you want to live with them yet.
We’re here to let you know that it’s totally okay if you don’t feel ready to look for second year accommodation at the moment.
What you should consider:
Who you live with is more important than where you live, and different accommodation options come up all throughout the year.
It’s also worth considering the housing market in your city.
In big cities such as London, flats can appear very frequently so you don’t need to panic too much. However, in smaller places such as Bristol and Bath, accommodation can be trickier to find. Some cities also have a reputation for having a very competitive housing market. These cities include:
- Durham
- Cambridge
- Oxford
- Glasgow
However, this is just something to be aware of, but please don’t let it pressure you into finding accommodation before you’re ready.
If you are feeling ready to find accommodation, you can start looking for options in your city here.
