Aberystwyth University
Aberystwyth University dates back to 1872, and was a founding member of the former institution, the University of Wales. In 2007, the University of Wales declined as a federal institution and Aberystwyth gained independent university status. Across its three faculties, Aberystwyth has over 8,000 students.

While university accommodation is guaranteed the university cannot guarantee a certain type of room or a specific location. Students' Union
When students join Aberystwyth University, they automatically become part of AberSU. The student’s Union is one of the oldest Student’s Unions in the UK, and was the location where the first NUS UK conference was held. The Student’s Union offers an array of societies, and support students throughout their time at Aberystwyth.
Famous for
The University has been recognised as one of the safest places to study, due to it having some of the lowest crime rates within the UK. It is also world’s first university to be awarded a plastic free University status for single use plastic items.
News
For two consecutive years, the university has been crowned by the Sunday times University guide as the ‘University of the year for teaching quality’. It was the first university to achieve this award for two years on the run.
