Coventry University
Coventry University was initially founded as the Coventry School of Design in 1843. From 1970 to 1987 it was known as Lanchester Polytechnic, until it became known as Coventry Polytechnic. It was not until 1992 that it was awarded university status and became known as Coventry University. The University is the 6th largest university in the UK, and the 4th largest outside of London with over 35,000 students.

Students' Union
Coventry University Students’ Union represents the student population of Coventry University, it is run by seven sabbatical officers who carry out the wishes of the student population. The Students’ Union is home to over 100 societies and owns its own independent night club. Students are encouraged to take part in Union run events and engage with the student community at Coventry.
Famous for
In 2007 Coventry University’s Department of Industrial Design was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in Engineering and Technology for educating tomorrow’s world leaders in automotive design. In 2020, Coventry’s Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering was given this same award. The University is known for its continued dedication to Engineering and Technology.
