De Montfort University
De Montford University (DMU) is located in Leicester. It was founded in 1870 with the Leicester School of Art, but it was not until 1992 that De Montford was granted university status and degree awarding powers. The university took its name from Simon De Montford who established the first parliament in 1265. De Montford University has over 27,000 students across undergraduate and post-graduate level.

Accommodation
De Montford University guarantees a room to all new undergraduate students, provided that they meet the deadlines to apply for accommodation and have accepted their firm offer via UCAS. De Montford has three university owned accommodation sites: Bede Hall, New Wharf Hall and Waterways Garden. Waterways Garden accommodation is primarily given to NHS students, due to their different timetables and working hours. Prices range from £95 per week to £156 per week, depending on the accommodation type. Students' Union
De Montford Students’ Union is a student run body that represents the interests of all students. When joining university students are automatically enrolled in the union and are encouraged to join in with union events. There are an array of student run societies and volunteering opportunities that students at De Montford University can join.

De Montford University has one of the largest numbers of Teacher Fellows in the UK and has been awarded a Centre of Excellence due to its outstanding performance practice teaching.
News
Architecture student Daniel Hambly from De Montford University has won the SKYHIVE 2020 Challenge. This was awarded for his innovative ideas and the university commends his achievement. This time Decolonising DMU - working with the university's sustainability team - has won a Green Gown Award in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sustainability category (2023).
