My wife and I have owned a number of houses in Portsmouth for more than 20 years. I am a Chartered Surveyor and was previously Head of Property Management with Savills in London, so I guess you could say that I know a bit about managing property. Our portfolio of properties in Portsmouth has grown gradually since our first purchase in Harold Road, Southsea in 1999. We have learned from a few mistakes in the early days, especially in our selection of furnishings and we now install identical furniture in all of our properties to a high standard. Over the years we have developed great relationships with our tenants who frequently tell us that our properties are 10 times better than any of the houses that their friends are living in. Each year we have new tenants referred to us by students currently living in our houses. Very often students will stay in our houses year after year, in some cases for the whole of their student lives.
