A large historic University town, Reading is home to the University of Reading and the University of West London also has a presence in the town as well. The University of Reading was founded in 1892 and is usually categorised as a red brick University. It consists of four major campuses and ranks highly for the quality of its research. The University of West London can be traced back to 1860, and now sits in the top half of the UK Universities.
Reading is probably most famous for the Reading festival, which is an annual music event that has been running since 1971. Many of the UK’s most well-known bands have played here including The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
