The Spring-Summer Semester at University

Spring-Summer Semester
Congratulations you've done it! You have completed your first semester and navigated new environments, people, and routines.
But the seasons won't be the only things that change as you approach the Spring/Summer semester. This is the time to focus on yourself and your relationships. Often, extroverted circles close as students form friendships and get to know their preferences, while busy deadlines loom ahead. So now is the time to prioritise yourself and what you want.
By now, you may feel settled into your routine at university. You know your timetable and your lecturers. You know your favourite seat in class and when to leave your accommodation to arrive fashionably late. However, as the summer months approach, it becomes harder to focus and motivate yourself to go to the library or stay in and catch up, especially when you can hear your friends outside and smell the BBQ smoke wafting through the air.
Spring Routine
This is when it's important to work hard and implement rewards. As the weather improves, attend more lectures, as that is an accomplishment. Maintain the routine of getting up every morning and attending your lectures or going to the library. This routine provides you with the key hours of the day to concentrate, and by 5pm, if you feel you've accomplished enough, you can reward yourself with time spent in the park or going out.
Rewards don't just mean enjoying a piece of chocolate after 20 minutes of focused work. They can also include breaks to care for yourself and sustain your energy. Take a proper lunch break and sit in the sun; refuel your body and soul. By looking after yourself and following a routine, you can meet all your deadlines and enjoy time with friends without the worry of procrastinating until the last minute.
Summer Priorities
As summer arrives, convincing yourself to keep working can be a real challenge, especially when you see others relaxing before the semester ends. But remember, every course has different deadlines and timelines. Often, those you see relaxing early have later exams that they are preparing for. In a couple of months, the roles will be reversed, and you will be done and enjoying yourself while they prepare for their deadlines.
Some of the best months of university occur in the summer, and they feel even better when you can relax knowing you've accomplished everything you needed to do!
